It’s a legal requirement that a claimant must be able to choose between cash or benefits (such as a coffin, flowers, etc) on all underwritten benefits. This means that it’s up to you as the policyholder, or the nominated beneficiary to take the actual funeral assistance benefit or cash equivalent.
Of course, a lump sum policy will always pay out cash.
Certain value-added services however are not underwritten, such as the ZAZU Life On-Hand value-added services which are not swappable for cash.
